I have a previous blog entry about The Carver. But his one will include some new information and photos.
A lot of people have asked about his hands. They are flex-wax casts of my own hands, This is a very easy duplication process, it takes all of an hour and fairly inexpensive. That sneaky Dead Spider moved her how-to again so here is the link. Afer they are done just paint them up, I used a base coat of Liquitex acrylics, and then some FW-inks.
The Carver’s body is made from 3/4 inch PVC and PVC couplings, ahh Tinker Toy’s for prop makers.
Then covered with an upholstery remnant from Jo-anns Fabric
Painting with UV reactive paint was a lot of fun, I had to do it in the dark so I could see where it was going on his face, I could see it coming out of the airbrush, a fine mist of glow in the dark fog spraying out of the airbrush. Very psychedelic.
The carver is one of my favorite pieces. He sits on a table looking out a window every Halloween now, he is very creepy and always gets comments. I plan on making a few more similar pieces in the near future, maybe they will make it into my ETSY store

I would love to make some of these but where do you buy the foam and resin? I dont think I've seen it at the craft store but then I've never really looked for it.
Tap Plastics and Smooth On sell both items.
