Rust Patina

by Grim on 2008/05/10

Its seems that there is always talk of rust patina on the online forums. I have done a fair amount of experimenting using different products and also just using regular paints. So far I like the Patina’s from Sculpt Nouveau the best and the owner was very helpful with any questions I had.

Last year I made a shovel for a piece I was working on.

This is the shovel after I initially started it. It is made from an aluminum pizza peel. I purchased it from a restaurant supply store.

Then I Added the transition from shovel blade to handle with epoxy clay.

Then I coated it with Iron B coating from Sculpt Nouveau

After a few hours and coated with permalac to stop the reaction
