Red Tape and Acetone Replacement

by Grim on 2009/09/12

I was out and about today picking up some supplies for the lab and needed some acetone. I hate using toxic dangerous chemicals in my studio. I was at Tap Plastics and picked up this: TAP Replacetone http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/product.php?pid=32
Its works really well. Like it says it doesn’t dissolve the resin, it causes them to separate, almost an oil and water type reaction. It seems fairly safe, more so than acetone at least.

I am forever losing tape measures in my shop. I think it is akin to losing socks in the dryer. In fact I believe that its due to being in close proximity to the dryer and there is some large cache of mismatched socks and brightly colored tape measures somewhere. Anyway. I saw this on Tool Monger this morning. Red Tape http://toolmonger.com/2009/09/03/fill-your-shop-with-red-tape/
I think Ill get a roll and put it along the front edge of my bench and a few other places.

Back to the lab…
